2007-08 Finance Scholarships Recipients

Each academic year the Finance Department faculty recommend top finance undergraduate students to receive scholarships sponsored through the generosity of alumni and friends of the department.
Thanks to these donors, we are able to provide financial recognition of the academic accomplishments of our top students, acknowledging their hard work and dedication to the study of finance.
Scholarship Awards and Recipients for 2007-08
George W. Coleman Scholarships
George W. Coleman donated funds for these scholarships to upper division finance majors demonstrating exceptional academic ability and dedication to careers in finance. This year's recipients are Matthew Gipple and

George Gregson Scholarship
George Gregson sponsored this scholarship for an upper division student in finance with a strong GPA. David Platt, a dual finance and entrepreneurship major, is this year's recipient. David is considering a career in investment banking.

Cacioppo Scholarship
With the generous donations of the Cacioppo family, Maxwell Burke has been awarded this scholarship. Max is completing a degree in finance with an International Business Certificate and is the current President of the UA of Financial Management Association.
He recently completed an internship with Credit Suisse in New York City.

Robbins/General Mortgage Scholarship
Lawrence J. Robbins ('62) donated funds for these scholarships to upper division finance majors purshing careers in real estate and finance. This years recipients are Charlene Berglund and
Jason Hunt. Charlene Berglund, a dual finance and entrepreneurship major, recently completed an internship with Apple Inc. She is interested in obtaining an MBA and starting a venture of her own. Jason Hunt is also a finance major and plans to start his career as an analyst for a bulge bracket investment bank.
Jason co-created the ELITE Program at Eller, "a new program that helps select
incoming freshman prepare for the cohort and their career."

A.C. Simon Scholarship
Through the generosity of A.C. Simon ('?), Timothy Hart received this scholarship for a student interested in finance. After completing his BSBA in finance, Timothy plans to work in corporate finance and project planning.

Glen Strickler Scholarship
Glen Stickler wishes to recognize a top finance major student with this scholarship. This year's award recipient is Charlene Berglund, a dual finance and entrepreneurship major, also the recipient of a Robbins/General Mortgage Scholarship.

Weiler Scholarship
The Weiler Scholarship recipient is Valdy Tjong, a finance major with extensive traiing in mathematics. Valdy is planning to start his career as an investment analyst. He is pursing his honors thesis under the direction of Dr. Chris Lamoureux, Department Head.

Logan Keaton McKenzie Scholarship
Established by Keith McKenzie to recognize the accomplishments of his son, Logan McKenzie, this scholarship recognizes Michael Ryan Brown for his academic ability and dedication to a career in finance. Ryan is also purshing a dual major in entrepreneurship and plans to start and run his own company after graduation. He recently returned from Australia following a "life changing" study abroad program.

The Moses Scholarship is especially meaningful to the department as it honors colleague Tom Moses, who died on June 20, 2004 —just a few months after his retirement from the University. Tom was deeply committed to student success.
Through the generosity of his widow, Dorothy Moses, and family members, the family has recognized Matthew Boltz for his academic success as a dual finance and entrepreneurship major.

Virginia and Mark Klafter Scholarship
The generous donations of the Soboroff and Klafter families allowed the department to award two scholarships to Kendall Prall. Kendall plans to join her family's companies, helping them to grow and expand. She also competes professionally in rodeo.

Woods/RHL Realty Scholarship
Through the generosity of Henry Dahlberg and RHL Realty, the department awarded two scholarships to Stefen Kriza. Stefen plans to work as a financial analyst in real estate investment trust, working toward ownership of a commercial real estate service company. He spends his free time playing the piano, guitar and drums.
