Master's in Finance

Program Description

The Finance Department at The University of Arizona offers a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Finance (MMF) degree.

Entrance Requirements

  • A B.S. degree in a business-related field (finance, accounting, economics, etc.)
  • A 3.0 GPA or better
  • No work experience necessary
  • Applicants welcome from other fields; though additional coursework
    may be required (The Finance Dept. offers such classes
    during the summer session, prior to starting the program.)
  • GMAT results required
  • TOEFL required for international students
    if education has been in a non-English speaking country

Degree Requirements

  • 30 credit hours of graduate coursework in Finance (10 courses)
  • 6 credit hours for project / thesis, completed individually or in pairs

Graduation for students starting in the fall is intended to be mid-August of the next year. Students wishing to enroll part-time can contact the department for details.

(Applicants wishing to attend part-time must meet the same entrance requirements as full-time applicants and complete the same application packages by the prescribed due dates.)

Curricula

The Finance Department has organized its programs around particular tracks to assist Eller College Master's in Finance students in career planning. These tracks include:

  • Fixed Income
  • Corporate Finance

Dual Degrees

MBA/MMF
Candidates apply separately to both programs and generally complete the dual degree in August following the completion of the MBA and MMF course requirements.  Students typically complete the MBA core requirements in the first year, taking 15-18 units per semester, followed in the second year by the MMF track and MBA elective requirements, and the MMF project in the summer following the second year.

JD/MMF
Candidates apply separately to both programs. With the appropriate background, applicants admitted to the James E. Rogers College of Law will likely be admitted to the MMF program. The Dual JD/MMF degree program prepares students to practice law in specialized business and finance related areas where obtaining the additional credential of the MMF will help their careers.

Tuition and Fees

  • Arizona Residents: $19,000
  • Out-of-State Residents: $28,000

The deadlines for applications are:

  • December 1:   International Applications.
    Includes those currently studying in the U.S.
  • February 1:     Domestic Applications.
